余乘

自宗之教称为宗乘，他宗之教称为余乘。乘，谓从此迷岸渡至彼悟岸之载乘物具，即教法。如法华经卷一方便品，即以法华圆教为真实乘，其他别教为带方便之教，为有余未了之说，故称余乘。此外，亦有指大乘以外之教为余乘者。［俱舍论卷二十三、瑜伽师地论释、法华文句卷四上］
