‘不但中’之对称。天台四教中别教说三谛隔历，于空假之外别立中道一理，称为但中。此但中之理，又作一理、别理、但理。对此，三观圆融，即空、即假、即中，则为不但中。四教之中，但中显别教中观，不但中则诠圆教中道。［法华经玄义卷二下、天台四教仪］（参阅‘三观’706）
